For many companies there may be circumstances, where it is advantageous to have the production done by third companies. Examples include:

  • There are not the proper facilities and permits in place for production and storage, there is a shortage of people with specific know-how or a temporary lack of capacity.
  • There is chosen not to invest in production and people because the company wants to fully concentrate on the core business, e.g. marketing and sales.
  • The company wants to penetrate into a different geographical area with an existing product: External facilities are directly usable for production close to the market.
